Kaitlan Collins of CNN was interrupted by questions by White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt on Wednesday-less than 24 hours after the network star correspondent closed when he tried to seek a continuation of President Trump.
Leavitt was holding a court with reporters during a White House conference on Thursday when she called Collins, who asked her about the treatment of signal textbooks issued by Atlantic editor -in -chief Jeffrey Goldberg.
“Does the President think that he had been deceived by his national security advisers, whoever he was who told him there was no information classified there now that he has seen these messages?” Collins asked Leavitt.
The 27-year-old White House press secretary appeared frustrated by the question, another version of which was apparently asked by another reporter.
“Now I have been asked and answered this question three times of both,” Leavitt said, adding: “And I have given you my answer. The President feels the same as he did yesterday.”
Collins tried to ask the press secretary a subsequent question, but was quickly interrupted by Leavitt, who called another reporter in the room.
“I have a continuation of what you just said,” Collins said while another reporter was called to ask a question.
“Kaitlan, I’m not getting your continuation,” Leavitt said in response.
Collins once again tried to intervene, but was once again interrupted by Leavitt, who said more strictly: “Kaitlan, I am not receiving your follow -up.”
Other reporters also tried to ask Leavitt’s following questions about Goldberg text messages, but were also interrupted during the Conference. The post has requested comment from the White House.
A CNN spokesman refused to comment.
Last month, Leavitt butted heads with Collins after CNN reporter sought evidence that supports Trump’s claims that the apologies issued by former President Biden were invalid because they were suspected to have been signed with an autopenic.
Atlantic magazine on Wednesday issued previously invisible exchanges invisible among senior officials from the Trump administration by detailing minute-minutes and specific weapons planned for recent military attacks against Houthi rebels in Yemen.
The newly discovered texts directly oppose the previous statements of the White House by denying that the classified information was compromised in the controversial signal messages incident.
Goldberg, the editor -in -chief, shared additional parts of the conversation from a group labeled “Houthi PC Small Group Channel”, revealing sensitive details surrounding a March 15 military action.
“If this text were to have been accepted by someone hostile to American interests – or someone simply unfair, and with access to social media – Houthis would have time to prepare for what was thought to be a surprise attack on their fortresses,” Goldberg wrote, specially emphasizing a message authorized by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
Trump has significantly interrupted Collins during a White House press conference on Tuesday, preventing it from raising questions about the controversy of the messages.
During an event followed by Ambassadors at the White House, Collins, who often clashes with the president, tried to question Trump about the incident.
“Mr. President, you said that your national security learned a lesson after a reporter -,” Collins began.
Trump interrupted him quickly, responding boldly, “Excuse me, I didn’t choose you.”
He immediately directed his attention to another journalist present, signaling, “Go ahead”.
Before Trump interrupts Collins’s continuation, he received two questions from the CNN reporter.
Earlier this year, Collins press Trump in the Oval Office about his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, specifically asking Trump’s confidence in the Russian leader.
“I believe he wants peace,” Trump had initially told Putin.
“I believe President Putin – when I spoke yesterday, I mean, I know him very well – yes, I think he wants peace. I think he would tell me if he didn’t.”
Collins interrupted, asking, “Do you trust President Putin?”
Trump responded by attacking Collins and CNN’s credibility.
“I know [Biden is] A friend of yours. He is a friend of CNN. That is why no one looks at CNN anymore. Because they have no credibility, ”Trump shot again, provoking laughter from some other reporters present.
