Tesla has warned that she and other major US exporters are exposed to revenge tariffs that may be flattened in response to the aggressive use of President Trump’s tariffs.
Tesla Director General Elon Musk, a close Trump ally, has led the White House’s effort to reduce the size of the federal government. The billionaire heads the so -called government efficiency department.
The letter to the US Trade Representative office reflects comments from many American businesses interested in Trump’s fees, and is evident because it is from Tesla. It is not clear who wrote the letter, which is signed, but is in the letter of the company.
Tesla said it is important to ensure that Trump administration efforts to address trade issues “do not inadvertently harm US companies”. She said she was eager to avoid revenge the type she faced in previous trade disputes, which resulted in increased tariffs for imported vehicles in countries undergoing US tariffs.
“US exporters are naturally exposed to disproportionate influences when other countries respond to American trade actions,” Tesla said in paper. “For example, past trade actions from the United States have resulted in immediate feedback from the target countries, including increased EV tariffs imported into those countries.”
Trump is considering setting important fees for vehicles and parts made worldwide in early April.
Tesla warned that even with the aggressive localization of the supply chain, “certain parts and components are difficult or impossible to resume within the United States.”
Automaker added that companies will “benefit from a phase access that enables them to prepare accordingly and ensure that the right supply chains and compliance measures are taken.”

Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for a comment.
“As an American manufacturer and exporter, Tesla encourages the Ust to take into account the impacts on the bottom of certain actions proposed to address unjust trade practices,” the EV manufacturer said in the letter of Tuesday.
Autos Drive America, a trade group representing key foreign automobiles including Toyota, Volkswagen, BMW, Honda and Hyundai, warned of the Ust in particular comments that the imposition of “wide -based tariffs will disrupt production on American Assembly plants”.
The group added, “Vehicle manufacturers cannot shift their overnight supply chains, and cost increases will inevitably lead to a combination of higher consumer prices, less models offered to consumers and closing lines of US production, leading to possible labor loss throughout the supply chain.”
