CBS on Monday asked the Federal Communication Commission to refuse a complaint about a “60 -minute” interview with the then President of Anger Kamala Harris, saying the agency has no legal role in the news broadcasting police.
CBS, which is owned by Paramount Global, said the company’s sanctioning during the interview “would openly violate the first change by replacing the government’s editorial judgment on that of CBS and its journalists.”
One complaint claims that the interview violates the FCC rules for “news distortion”. The network broadcast part of the reply of the Deputy President on “Face the Nation” and another in “60 minutes”.
“CBS engaged in ordinary editorial decision -making that did not include” distortion “,” the company said, adding that the FCC complaint does not fully accept both the letter and the spirit of the commission’s news distortion policy. “
CBS returned the uncontrolled video and transcription to the FCC that made it public as well as the broadcaster.
Last month, FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez, a Democrat, said the Republican -led agency is seeking to harass the leading US broadcasters by resetting a series of complaints.
She said the interview “60 minutes” does not violate the commission’s rules and said other complaints had been unfairly returned against Walt Disney and Comcast NBC.
FCC President Brendan Carr did not comment immediately.

President Donald Trump has sued CBS for $ 20 billion during broadcasting. Media reports have said that paramount representatives were in talks on resolving to resolve Trump’s lawsuit.
Paramount is seeking FCC approval for a $ 8.4 billion union with Skydance Media.
Last month, FCC returned complaints about “60 minutes” interview with Harris, as well as how ABC News moderated the debate on TV before elections between then President Joe Biden and Trump, as well as against Harris to appear on Saturday Night Live before she lost in Trump. The former FCC chairman had rejected those complaints.
