Trump says he will ‘surely’ extend the Tiktok deadline, if necessary if necessary

President Trump said Thursday that he “surely” will extend the deadline for a sale of China’s ownership if the terms are not reached before expiring a 75-day window for negotiations on April 5.

Trump has until that day find a buyer for Tiktok after issuing an executive order by delaying the implementation of a federal ban for 75 days. Tiktok, led by CEO Shou Zi Chew, had briefly gone offline in January after his Chinese parent Bytedance lost a January 19th deadline to completely deviate.

When asked if he would require an extension if it is necessary to avoid a tick stop, Trump said “Maybe, yes”.

“We have a lot of interest in tiktok,” Trump added. “China will play a role, so hopefully China will approve the deal.”

Congress adopted the law required by Bytedance to sell its shares due to national security concerns. As written, the law requires a full shift of Chinese ownership of the popular video -sharing application, though Trump has suggested that the US can partner with China in a joint enterprise ensuring that Americans are protected.

When asked for how long he could extend the window and if his team was close to a deal, Trump said “we’ll see.”

“For now, we have at least another month, so we don’t need an extension,” Trump added. “But if I need an extension, I will surely extend it.”

Trump pledged to “Save Tiktok” ahead of the 2024 presidential elections and credited the application by contributing to its political success. The president said earlier that he believed China’s leader Xi Jinping would approve a sale.

Vice President JD Vance is reportedly leading efforts to mediate a sale.

Trump has navigated the possibility that a newly created American -created sovereign fund could be included in a transaction to obtain Tiktok.

Other suites include billionaire Frank McCourt and “Shark Tank” star Kevin O’Leary, who announced earlier this week that associate Redit Alexis Ohranian had joined their offer to buy Tiktok and rebuild his algorithm on American soil.

After briefly removing Tiktok from their app stores to meet the law, Google and Apple resumed by allowing dismisses after insurance by Trump’s Attorney General Send Bond that they would not be fined.

US lawmakers and the Department of Justice said TIKTOK can be used by the Chinese Communist Party to collect mass data and used to manipulate public opinion through its algorithm.

The US Supreme Court rejected Tiktok’s argument that the law violated the first change and said the Feds had raised reliable concerns about national security.

Last month, a national study found that 77% of Americans were concerned about the constant Chinese ownership of Tiktok, as Post reported.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ar.), Who heads the Senate Intel Committee, wants “any agreement for Tiktok to result in a full break from communist China in accordance with the law,” said a spokesman for Punchbowl News last month.
