Sam Altman’s Openai released GPT-4.5, an updated version of the artificial intelligence model that empowers Chatgpt to select users on Thursday while it seems to remove challenges from rivals like Elon Musk Xai.
Described as “the largest and best model of Openai for conversation yet”, GPT-4.5 was originally available as a “research observation” for a limited number of software developers and chatgpt pro-subscribers, said the starting-based start in a blog post.
GPT-4.5 is less prone to so-called “hallucinations”-a phenomenon where models of it manufactured false responses to user requirements. Openai said the updated model has a hallucination rate of only 37.1%, from 61.8% from the last version.
“Early testing shows that interaction with GPT – 4.5 feels more natural,” Openai said in a blog post. “Its wider basis of knowledge, improved ability to pursue the user’s goal and the biggest” EQ “make it useful for tasks such as improving writing, programming and solving practical problems.”
Altman described the GPT-4.5 as “the first model he feels like talking to a thoughtful person to me”-but he also tried to endure expectations for the beginning.
He acknowledged that the update was a “giant, expensive” model that “would not suppress the standards”.
Microsoft -backed Openai has faced increasingly tougher competition than a multitude of rivals, ranging from Google’s Gemini twins to Xai’s Grok and Deepseek based in China.
Chatgpt remains the world’s leading chatbot service with more than 400 million weekly active users.
Earlier this month, Musk discovered the Grok 3 model, which listed above in the tests in mathematics, science and coding than the GPT-4o of Openai, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude and Deepseek’s V3 Models.

The battle between Musk and Altman has also been extended to the federal court. Musk has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Openai and has requested an order to block Altman’s plans to turn the beginning into a lucrative entity.
Musk joined Openai along with Altman, but left the beginning after disputes over his long -term plans. Two billionaires have since become bitter rivals and often trade public insults.
Elsewhere, Meta Mark Zuckerberg announced this week that he will launch an independent app for his own chatbot who will compete directly with chatgpt.
In response to this announcement, Altman joked that Openai could challenge the parent on Facebook and Instagram on his own terrain.
“Ok well we’re going to make a social app,” Altman wrote on X. “Lol if Facebook tries to come and we just don’t turn them, it would be so funny.”
