Meta Boss Mark Zuckerberg fired “approximately 20” employees who poured “confidential information” about the social media giant – weeks after the technology manage complained about leakage – and more heads could soon be rolled, the company said on Thursday.
“We tell employees when they join the company, and we offer periodic reminder that it is against our policies to issue internal information, regardless of the purpose,” said a Meta spokesman in a statement.
“Recently we have conducted an investigation that turned out that about 20 employees will end up sharing confidential information outside the company, and we expect there will be more.”
The Facebook and Instagram parent did not provide details on how they found out who the suspected deceitful employees were or in which departments they worked on.
The expiration follows some cases in which remarks from Zuckerberg and other top bronze that were made during internal meetings or were sent to memorandums across the country were presented in news reports.
Meta is supported by internal disputes after Zuckerberg removed Nismatm Dei and ended the controversial company control attempts, the movements that critics claim to have become comfortable for President Trump.
During a January Q & A session with Meta employees in connection with the latest change of running the company, Zuckerberg tried because his remarks during the meeting are likely to end up in the media.
“We try to be really open and then all that I say leaks,” said Zuckerberg, according to The Verge, who first reported Thursday’s fires. “This suck.”
As predicted, Zuckerberg’s comments were immediately discovered – which led Meta to light a memorandum across the country, warning employees that Leakers would be fired.
“When the information is stolen or discovered, there are consequences beyond the immediate impact of security,” said Meta Guy Rosen’s leading security officer in the memorandum. “Our teams become demoralized and we all waste time spending better work on our products and towards our goals and mission.”
Meta technology official Andrew Bosworth later said the company was “advancing in people’s capture” – remarks that also discovered in the press.
The fires come to the top of about 4,000 workers fired earlier this month, who were classified as “low interpreters”. The cuts reached about 5% of the company’s workforce.
Zuckerberg said he expects an “intense year” ahead after Meta competes with rivals to develop advanced artificial intelligence products and signaled that the company would hire new workers to replace the crashed employees.
