Brendan Carr, chairman of the Federal Communication Commission, has asked his agency to launch an investigation into Comcast’s Dei policies – setting up an alarm bell for other media conglomerates with diversity programs.
On Tuesday, Carr warned CEO of Comcast Brian Roberts that FCC will consider whether the cable giant – which owns nbcuniversal – is violating federal law, specifically the act of equal employment opportunities, executing programs dei, according to a letter obtained from posting.
“Businessdo the only business that is regulated by FCC … I believe they have now received the message that time to end their unbearable forms of dei’s discrimination is now,” Carr Post told.
The probe comes while President Trump has hit Dei programs, banning policies across the federal level his first day in office and demanding that private firms chase the lawsuit.
The agency will appreciate many dei Comcast and NBCuniversal practices, including Dei’s days and training programs, Carr wrote on paper.
“We have received an investigation from the Federal Communications Commission and will cooperate with FCC to answer their questions,” a Comcast spokesman told The Post in a statement. “For decades, our company has been built on a foundation of integrity and respect for all our employees and clients.”
Carr said the agency was starting with Comcast because the company “affects so many our sectors”. The company operates cable, wireless and internet services, and owns transmitters like nbcuniversal and streaming peacock service.
The FCC chairman said he expects any single entity supervised by the Agency to complete any DEI discriminatory policy – and hinted that companies that fail to do so can face regulatory obstacles when it comes to agreements.
“I have a very difficult time seeing how a business will receive the approval of FCC while maintaining the inattentive forms of discrimination,” Carr Post told.
He did not confirm whether all companies regulated by FCC with DEI policy should expect to be investigated, but said there are “many different opportunities on the table”, including letters and implementation warnings.
“If they don’t have it already, they have to do their proper care,” Carr said.
Since taking the presidency at FCC last month, Carr has restored complaints of prejudice filed against ABC, NBC and CBS, which accused them of being partial to Democrats Kamala Harris in covering their presidential campaign.
Clalampdown dei comes after a number of companies – including Walmart, Target, Meta and Amazon – have returned to their diversity policies.
Recently, Google and Disney have again walked some of their Dei programs after Trump got the task.
