Vice President Vance told Europeans on Tuesday their “massive” regulations for artificial intelligence could kill technology and refuse moderation of content as “authoritarian censorship”.
In another sign of divergence in the rule of him, the US and Britain were not recorded in the final statement of a summit organized by the French who said he should be comprehensive, open, ethical and secure.
Humor in it has moved while technology takes root, from one of the concerns about safety in geopolitical competition, as countries go through to feed the other big giant.
Defining the first agenda of the Trump administration, Vance said the US intended to remain the prevailing force in it and strongly opposed the much tougher regulatory approach of the European Union.
“We believe that excessive regulation of the sector could kill a transformative industry,” Vance said to the CEO summit and heads of state in Paris.
“We feel very strongly that he must remain free from ideological prejudices and that the American one will not co-chosen in an authoritarian censorship tool.”
Vance criticized the “mass regulations” created by the EU digital service law, as well as the rules of internet intimacy of Europe, which he said implied endless costs of legal compliance for smaller firms.
“Of course, we want to ensure that the Internet is a safe place, but it’s one thing to prevent a predator from preaching a baby online, and it’s something quite different to prevent an adult man or woman from entering An opinion that the government thinks it is misinformation, ”he said.
European lawmakers last year adopted the act of the Block, the first group of comprehensive world rules that regulate technology.
Vance is leading the American delegation at the Paris Summit.
He left shortly after his speech, without hearing European Commission Chief Ursula von der Leyen, who spoke shortly after him, or French President Emmanuel Macron, who delivered the concluding speech.
He later met each other, for talks.
China Warning
In his speech, Vance also seemed to aim for China at a delicate moment for the American technology sector.
Last month, the Chinese beginning Deepseek freely distributed a powerful model of reasoning that some said they challenged the leadership of American technology. She sent shares of US stylist Chip Nvidia below 17%.
“From CCTV devices to 5G, we are all familiar with free market technology that has been subsidized and exported by authoritarian regimes,” Vance said.
But “partnership with them means the chain of your nation to an authoritarian master seeking to infiltrate, dig and capture your information infrastructure,” he added.
Vance did not mention Deepseek by name.
There is no evidence that the information can strangely flow through the starting technology to the China government, and the basic code is freely available to use and view.
However, some government organizations are said to have banned the use of Deepseek.
