A long associate editor in the Washington Post criticized his newspaper for an editorial that exploded both President Donald Trump and his predecessor, Joe Biden because “both abused their powers” and “the placement of dangerous precedents . ”
David Maraniss, who has spent nearly five decades in the Washington Post, took on social media on Wednesday and surprised the fact that his employer “has lost his soul completely”.
“The Washington Post’s editorial board essentially equating Biden’s controversial apologies with Trump’s wild apologies January 6th was unknown,” Maraniss wrote on the Microblogging Bluesky platform Wednesday.
“The newspaper for which I have been a part of 48 years has completely lost her soul.”
Maraniss, who wrote biography of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, referred to an editorial entitled: “Biden and Trump’s pardon attack the rule of law.”
“President Joe Biden began trouble, releasing preliminary pardons for five family members as well as former members of his administration,” the editorial board of the newspaper wrote.
“His redness action opens the door to future presidents to also immunize families and their staffs from theoretical prosecution by their descendants – as if future presidents should be considered enemies whose actions must be protected against.”
In the next paragraph, the editorial office calls Trump for remission of convicts for their roles in riots in the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
“His reckless manual risks strengthening the militia and others to commit future acts of the barbarism in support of political goals. When such violence is tolerated, it happens more often, ”reads editorial.
New York Post has been looking for comment from The Washington Post.
Maraniss told the status bulletin on Thursday that “Disheartens” to see what is happening in this era of leadership ” – a reference to owner Jeff Bezos.
Bezos, the founder of Amazon, has so far ignored a request from more than 400 from the newspaper staff to visit the editorial office in the wake of a talent exodle caused by the decision to promote the approval of the then President of Vice, Kamala Harris .
Much of the newspaper’s leftist readability was so angry by the measures that a 250,000 reported subscribers canceled their memberships.
“People are in complete despair,” a Washington Post staff told him. Bulletin said the Washington Post employees found that “confusion … why Bezos insists on maintaining the ownership of the newspaper”.
“While he once seemed to be proud of them possessing him, and he probably liked that the outing served as an attack against Trump in his first term, which no longer seems,” Oliver Darcy wrote in the status.
The post has requested comment from Bezos.
In recent weeks, the Washington Post has shared ways with some high -profile reporters and editors who have decomposed to other media.
Philip Rucker, the highly valued national editor, left for CNN, while the columnist of long opinions and Basher Trump Jennifer Rubin resigned to join Substack.
Ann Telnaes, the newspaper’s cartoonist, resigned after the publication refused to print her cartoon by mocking Bezos and other technology moguls as highly subjected to Trump.
Ashley Parker and Michael Scherrer, two national political reporters, left for the Atlantic, while political reporter Josh Dawsey left to join the Wall Street Journal.
Morality in the Washington Post has been further damaged by the recent vacation of employees on the business side.
The management in the newspaper has also determined the law and told employees that they are welcome to submit their resignation if they refuse to return to the office five days a week.
