Megyn Kelly slams ABC News’ David Muir for ‘playing dress up’ while covering LA fires: ‘Terrible vanity of this man’

Megyn Kelly criticized ABC’s “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir for showing “terrible vanity” while covering the fires in Los Angeles, where he was attacked after wearing a yellow fire jacket that cinched in the back with clothespins, presumably to achieve a more fitted look.

Kelly blasted Muir for “wearing a fake fireman’s jacket” while doing an on-site report from devastated areas in Southern California.

“What you’re seeing is the close-up as he turns to refer to the scene behind him and shows us his back, which he clearly didn’t expect to make it on camera, the clothespins, pulling up his jacket, cinched … so that his waist looks more shapely on camera,” Kelly said during Thursday’s episode of her SiriusXM podcast “The Megyn Kelly Show.”

“Terrible vanity of this man,” added Kelly. She took Muir out for “pretending to be a firefighter” while reporting from the scene.

“This is not the time to dress up,” she said. “This is something my little boys did when they were still in the single digits…not on the news when people are dying.”

“What are you doing?”

Kelly looked incredulous as she noted that Muir placed a clothespin in the back of his jacket.

“Yes, he is an actor who worries about his vanity and beauty on camera. God forbid you think that David Muir might be a little weird in the waist,” she said.

The Post has sought comment from ABC News.

Muir was called “pathetic” and “narcissistic” on social media for using staples to fasten his jacket.

“As you can see here behind me,” Muir says as he turns to show the charred wreckage behind him.

As he looks behind him, a wooden clip is clearly visible, clutching the ill-fitting ABC News jacket and showing off the anchor’s torso.

Muir, the “World News Tonight” anchor, was buzzed on social media. ABC

“Nice jacket Bro. Glad you’re looking nice and stylish with those clothesline pins while our city burns to the ground,” Jack Obsourne captioned the video in an X post.

Other users added their two cents – calling Muir “pathetic”, “narcissistic” and a host of other insults.

Using clothespins to attach clothes is a standard television styling maneuver that is done instead of more traditional and permanent tailoring.
