Katie Couric cast doubt on Trump’s surge on election night, warning voters it was just a ‘red mirage’

On election night, journalist Kate Couric warned Americans in advance that the vote for former President Trump on Tuesday night was just “a red mirage.”

A few hours later, Trump won the presidential election after winning more than 270 electoral votes.

Trump addressed his supporters in the country early Wednesday morning after predicting his decisive victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Just a quick reminder if you’re watching the election results tonight, I just want to make you aware of something called the ‘red mirage,'” Couric told her TikTok followers.

“That’s when some of the rural counties come in because they’re earlier and faster because there are fewer votes to count.”

“So don’t panic if you hear people or you see some kind of Donald Trump winning in some of the swing states, because it’s happened before in 2020 and as the votes come from the larger urban areas, the results change,” the former liberal . the news anchor added.

On Fox 11’s “The Issue Is,” election night reporter Kate Couric told viewers that the votes coming in for former President Donald Trump were just “a red mirage.”

“So I thought it would be useful for you all to know as you watch everything that’s going on tonight. Anyway, happy election day.”

Still, it was Couric who offered warning signs for Democrats during the campaign.

In May, Couric told The Issue Is host Elex Michaelson, “It looks like Donald Trump has the upper hand right now, despite all his legal problems and the fact that, you know, he’s on trial and Stormy Daniels and Michael .Cohen”, said the journalist when asked about the state of the race.

“He seems to be, surprisingly, gaining momentum, not losing it.”

In October, Couric told Charlamagne that she didn’t believe Harris came across as “authentic” when talking about her politics and answering questions from the media.

Rejecting Charlamagne’s claim that Harris comes across as authentic, the former CBS and NBC reporter responded: “I’d have to beg to differ with you on this point. I think she takes too long to get her point across, and that she relies too often on talking points. I think she’s done a lot better than before, but it’s almost like she’s afraid to say something that will come back later.”

Fox News’ Alexander Hall and Kristine Parks contributed to this report.
