Veteran’s democratic strategyist James Carville wants the Democratic Party’s progressive wing to distance itself from the party, suggesting a “division” because of “the policy of pronouns”.
“I don’t think we can’t work together in the policy of pronouns. These choices didn’t teach you how harmful it is. I don’t think there is anything I can say,” Carville said in Podcast of the Political War Chamber on Tuesday.
“And you say, this guy is stuck in another century, not another decade. And he does not represent anything with the future of our movement. I can accept it. You will not really hurt my feelings. So, maybe we can have some kind of friendly separation here,” he added.
While progressors tend to be very vocal about LGBTQ rights, Carville proposed that there should be a “schism” within the Democratic Party.
Carville went on to say, “They will never run against a Republican … All they do is run against other Democrats. I don’t understand why you are so worried about having the word democrat in describing what you do. But maybe we can have a friendly separation here.
“And you go on your way, we go our way, and after the elections, we come together and see how much ordinary terrain we can find.”
Carville’s comments came after he said last week that the Democratic Party had to distance themselves from identity policy because their first advantage should be to win the elections. He further explained that if there is a scary female candidate to win the White House, then the Democratic Party will gather around it.
Carville, who became famous to work in the campaign of former President Bill Clinton in 1992, listed several factions within the Democratic Party, including the Justice Party, the Labor Families and the Socialist Party.
“The only thing I would ask is simply not to use the democratic word in any title you have, because most Democrats I know are running for the office do not want your name, does not want you to be part of the deal,” said the democratic veteran strategy.
“They would surely be happy to get your vote. Who doesn’t want? Everyone wants to get as many votes as you can. Maybe you have your name. And by the way, nothing against choices, you can sit down and do as it is in parliamentary governments or governments all over the world.”
