A transgender rights activist is asking the Democratic Party to continue the fight for trans matters, claiming that “science” supports their side.
“Too simple to fight again in trans matters,” activist Charlotte Clymer said on Saturday during the “Katie Phang Show” of MSnbc.
“Science is on our side,” Clymer added. “Everyone reliable medical organization has emerged and approved care for gender confirmation and said that trans Military ban is ridiculous and unnecessary … but the more we do not fight again, the more Republicans will be involved in bad faith and develop a result for Democrats.”
Recent studies, however, point to worrying statistics for those who have undergone sex change surgery. A study published in the newspaper of sexual medicine found levels of depression, anxiety, substance use disorders and suicide tendency were “significantly higher” among those with sex change operations two years later.
According to the study, men who did sex change operations had a 25% depression level compared to men who had no operations (11.5%), and the anxiety levels between this group were 12.8% compared to 2.6%. Women who had undergone sex change had depression levels of 22.9% compared to 14.6% in the non-surgical group.
Clymer is an army veteran and a former press secretary for the human rights campaign, a LGBTQ advocacy organization, the substance of which, “Thoughts of Charlotte’s website, covers” politics, religion, culture and humor from a Trans Christian woman. “
The transgender activist is concerned that more Democrats are no longer open to this issue.
“I don’t see a lot of war from the democratic leadership in Congress, and this is a big mistake,” Clymer said. “The problem with this opinion is that we have an open purpose. No one is protecting it. Why will Republicans not continue to violate that purpose?”
The contrast, the activist added, is with the Republicans who have made the issue a defining part of their platform.
“Only one party is truly talking about trans. Party Republican Party,” Clymer said. “They have made trans one of their central topics in the campaign and national discourse.”
Fang, who interviewed Clymer, said the Republicans “Fearmonger” on the matter.
“They like to be scared. That’s their currency,” Phang said. “This galvanizes people to vote based on fear, not facts. I always want to say, don’t vote for feelings, vote for facts.”
Clymer said if Democrats do not get better with their messages, it could cost them.
“The more Democrats ignore this, the more he will return to follow us in the next election,” Clymer said.
