The Daily Show host Jon Stewart was called to suggest that Germany would return to Nazism without the United States military influence Monday at night.
Former Mitt Romney adviser Oren Cass appeared at Stewart’s show to discuss President Donald Trump’s fees and his next book, “Young Conservatives”.
While discussing the role that the US military should play in overseas conflicts, specifically in Europe and Russia, Stewart ALtedo for the last time Germany was in the position of being a “global military power”: World War II.
He seemed to suggest that Germany would return to Nazism if the US would not financially support their war efforts.
Stewart asked Cass if the reception of “Germany be able to quench Russia on its own” would put the US in a “very tense country”.
“Why?” Asked Cass.
“I have a home book about Germany and their position as a global military power, where we had no shakes, and they did everything they wanted, and it didn’t work,” Stewart said, for the audience’s laughter.
“No, no, I want to get this,” Cass replied to the audience’s laughter. “Because this is the entertaining line of applause that, like,” Oh, the Germans will simply become Nazis again, “like this is a strange racist criticism of the Germans. I see no reason to believe that.”
Stewart replied, “Well” as he was throwing, to which Cass replied, “Let’s be honest, is.”
Cass then asked Stewart, “On what basis are you saying this is like something for Germany we can’t stand?”
“I think is that there is an element within their society they have considered … This is not me saying the Germans will do it, this is Germany. That is, I did not say they will become that German leaders are afraid they have …” Stewart tried to explain before Cass.
Cass left again to Stewart, claiming that Germany’s leaders simply “really enjoy spending nothing on their army while the United States spends approximately 4% of GDP in ours.”
Stewart then asked if Cass thought Germany was “independent in our army”.
“There is no doubt that they are independent in our army,” Cass replied.
The Daily Show’s host explained why he did not see the SH.BA building the military of its allies as “independent”.
“I think I do not understand the idea that they are independent, and we want each nation to build their army to that point, because for me, it makes it more likely if you build something like that, it is more likely that you use it. Now it seems to be supported by general history when people re -tend to do it and use it,” Stewart explained.
In a discussion about Trump’s tariffs for nations like Canada and his ambitions for America to obtain Greenland ownership, Stewart claimed that the current administration is trying to create a “new world order”, rather than “reproducing economic inequalities”.
“It all looks so surprisingly vengeful, and then you are like, and then we will take over Greenland. As, it feels a little less like the rebalance of economic inequalities, and we have decided on a new world order, where Big does, and the states of the nation we turn into a little of that colonial or empireist model or whatever.
While Cass acknowledged that this was a “right concern”, he challenged Stewart’s claims by offering his own situation.
“I think there are some truths about him, which are not all bad when talking about this ‘new world order’ idea, which is that the United States has been some sort of champion this liberal world order, where we have essentially received it, to absorb a lot, absorbing many costs from other people, so in the world of trade, it is not only Germany, Those who are explained, “Stewart.
Stewart asked Cass if he thought the US was doing so in an effort to “buy influence”, and claimed that Trump’s view of the situation was that these nations were “abusing us”.
“I think the view I have is, America wants to tell them what to do and so, using our military power, we have shaken,” he said.
Cass replied, asking, “But do we have? What have we successfully told Japan or Germany to do?”
Stewart jokingly replied, “Uh, generally?” To laugh at the audience, adding, “Uh, stop to wear lederhosen, I think they have lowered it.”
“No, no, no, no, that’s a serious point. I appreciate jokes, but there is a reason you can’t answer the question,” Cass left again.
Stewart then alluded to the journey of Vice President JD Vance in Greenland, where Stewart claimed that the vice president did not respect Denmark, and that Denmark lost as many people per capita during the Middle East as the US did.
He also claimed that the “Sustainable World Order” did not mistreat the United States and that he does not see us “as victims of a concrete game that Europe has run on us”.
