President Donald Trump suddenly closed Kaitlan Collins of CNN during a press conference on Tuesday when she tried to ask questions about the controversial “signal” messages incident that includes senior administration officials.
During a meeting with ambassadors at the White House, Trump’s frequent Nemesis tried to ask the president with a question.
“Mr. President, you said that your national security learned a lesson after a reporter …,” Collins began.
Before she could end her sentence, Trump interrupted, saying harshly, “Excuse me, I didn’t choose you.”
He then showed another reporter in the gallery and said, “Go ahead.”
The signal controversy appeared after the Atlantic revealed that Jeffrey Goldberg, its editor -in -chief, was mistakenly added to a secret group conversation, where members of the top Rang administration discussed a future military strike against Yemen’s Houthi rebels.
Goldberg’s sudden involvement raised serious concerns about the treatment of administration for classified conversations.
Initially, Trump distanced himself from controversy, claiming he was unaware of the incident at the time it happened.
However, on Tuesday morning, he defended national security adviser Mike Waltz, who inadvertently involved Goldberg in sensitive discussion – labeling the mistake of simply a “glitch”.
Trump reaffirmed his constant confidence in Waltz, despite increasing criticism.
The confrontation between Collins and Trump was the last in a range of incidents between the two.
At a special meeting of the Oval Office, Collins pressured Trump for his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, specifically asking Trump’s confidence in the Russian leader.
“I believe he wants peace,” Trump had initially told Putin.
“I believe President Putin – when I spoke yesterday, I mean, I know him very well – yes, I think he wants peace. I think he would tell me if he didn’t.”
Collins interrupted, asking, “Do you trust President Putin?”
Trump responded by attacking Collins and CNN’s credibility.
“I know [Biden is] A friend of yours. He is a friend of CNN. That is why no one looks at CNN anymore. Because they have no credibility, ”Trump shot again, provoking laughter from some other reporters present.
Collins also challenged Trump about his controversial comments linking diversity, equality and involvement policies (Dei) with a clash between a passenger plane and a military plane in Washington, DC earlier this year.
“Are you comfortable [the victims’] Family to hear that you blame Dei’s policies? “She asked.
“I think this is not a very smart question,” Trump replied. “I’m surprised, coming from you.”
Last month, White House secretary Caroline Leavitt faced Collins for evidence claims that support Trump’s claims that the pardons issued by former President Joe Biden were invalid because they were allegedly signed by an autopenia.
“You’re a reporter, you have to find out,” Leavitt Collins told after being printed for evidence.
Trump had accused Biden’s staff of probably committing a crime by pardoning without Biden’s direct consent.
“The documents needed for forgiveness were not explained or approved by, Biden. He knew nothing about them, and the people they did could have committed a crime,” Trump said.
