President Trump said in a new interview that he was optimistic about his work relationship with Jeff Bezos as well as the future of the Washington Post, claiming that Bezos even despised the newspaper’s staff.
“They actually made some bad articles on it (Bezos),” Trump said in an interview for Outkick’s Clay Travis. “He said,” That’s crazy, I lose my wealth by directing this and they (news room employees), you know, they’re out of control. These people are crazy.
“(Bezos is) a good guy,” Trump added. “I really didn’t know it in the first mandate. I mean, it’s such a difference between now and the first time.”
Bezos, who founded Amazon and owns Washington Post, announced last month that the exit would change the contents of the pages of her opinion.
“We will write daily in support and protection of two pillars: personal freedoms and free markets,” Bezos said in February X. “We will cover other topics of course, but the views that oppose those pillars will be left to be published by others.”
He also said he wants to advance the discussion about these two topics.
“I am sure that free markets and personal freedoms are suitable for America,” Bezos added to X. “I also believe that these views are undeserved in the current market of ideas and opinion of the news. I am excited for us together to fill that void.”
Bezos also suffered the anger of the staff last year when he ceased a planned approval of Vice President Kamala Harris less than two weeks before the election.
Trump said he thinks the changes coming to the post are “brilliant” and that he spent time talking to Bezos about them.
He is also reported to say that Bezos is “really trying to be fairer”, and that Bezos has also been the subject of unfavorable media coverage.
Trump said Bezos, who participated in his inauguration, was illustrating how much he changed between his first and second term.
“If you look at the inauguration. Look at the people who were at that stage,” Trump said. “Here was one who is of a world that was completely against me the first time.
He added, “It’s a very different presidency. I have much more support.”
Fox News Digital reached Bezos and Washington Post for comment, but did not immediately receive an answer.
