The CBS News anchor Margaret Brennan moved to a flare with White House official Mike Waltz for expulsion flights – with President Trump’s security advisor capturing her claim that “no one is protecting gangs”.
On Sunday, during CBS ‘Face the Nation’, Brennan arrived in the use of Trump for the act of alien enemies of 1798 to send suspected members of the Venezuelane Tren de Aragua gang in El Salvador. A federal judge has temporarily blocked the administration’s call for the act.
“The American people are tired of being terrorized by these gangs,” Waltz said.
Brennan replied, “No one is protecting the gangs, but there is concern -“
Waltz jumped inside and replied that it sounds like the Democrats and the judge who banned the use of the act, in fact, protect the gangs.
“There is a concern that this is being done in a clumsy way,” Brennan said while the two talked about each other.
Brennan noted that a man sent on a flight to El Salvador earlier this month was rejected because he was “not even Venezuelan at all”, and another was rejected because she was a woman and “they could not be held in a prison with maximum certainty”.
“How does that kind of mistake happen with high consequences?” Brennan asked Waltz.
“I can’t talk to those individual cases,” replied Waltz, “but what I can speak is President Trump has determined that this group is acting as a terrorist organization.”
He added that the act of alien enemies “fully implemented”, arguing that the de Aragua’s traam gang is acting as “a representative of the Maduro regime”.
In response, Brennan argued that the act was intended to be used during wartime.
“You are saying you have evidence that the Venezuela government is running the gangs?” Asked CBS News anchor.
Waltz repeated that the gang is acting as a representative of the Maduro regime, and that district judges should not interfere with Trump’s actions.
“So SH.BA is at war with Venezuela?” Asked again Brennan.
Waltz replied: “In this case, the Commander -in -Chief, President Trump, is taking crucial action to get rid of our communities from these gangs that operate in a paramilitary way, and we know that Maduro is deliberately emptying his prisons in a proxy way to influence and attack the United States.”
“But that’s so different. The US is not at war with Venezuela’s country,” Brennan said.
Brennan noted that the Attorney General Pam Bondi promised to take the issue of deportation flights to the Supreme Court if necessary, asking Waltz if he wants to “have this war”.
“Margaret, we have times when IRGC [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps] Iran has operated with and through Mexican cards to bomb the buildings here in the United States, ”Waltz said.
“We have taken a crucial action in this regard. We will take crucial actions in this regard, and we are making a distinction in Washington, DC.”
