Voice of America employees accuse Trump’s administration of illegal closure of the news organization

A lawsuit filed on Friday late accuses the Trump administration of illegal closing of Voice of America and asking a federal court to restore the exit that has been supplying news for the United States for decades for nations around the world – including many of their free press.

The case, presented at the US District Court in New York, was brought by Voice of America reporters, borderless reporters and a small part of the unions against the US Global Media Agency and Lake Kari, the failed Arizona candidate who is the representative of President Trump there.

“In many parts of the world, an essential source of objective news has disappeared, and only the state -sponsored news media censored has remained to fill the gap,” the lawsuit.

The lake has described the transmission agency as a “giant rot” that must be stripped and rebuilt.

Voice of America dates back to World War II as a source of objective news, often radiated in authoritarian countries. Funded by Congress, he is protected by a statute that guarantees his product Pass Musster for the severity of journalism.

The lawsuit accuses the Trump administration effectively closed it illegally last week. Republicans have complained that the news source is infected by left -wing propaganda, a quarrel its operators say is not in fact supported.

“Trump’s second administration has received an electric saw at the agency as a whole in an attempt to close it completely,” the lawsuit said.

There was no immediate response Friday in a request for comment from the US Global Media Agency, which oversees Voice of America and a small part of sister networks.

In a Newsmax interview earlier this week, Lake described Voice of America as “how to have a rotten fish and try to find a part you can eat.”

In a post on X, she said the Global Media Agency is “a giant rot and a burden on American taxpayers – a national security risk for the nation – and irreversibly broken. While there are bright points within the agency with staff who are talented and committed servants, this is an exception.”

Clayton Weimers, the executive director of borderless reporters in the United States, said his organization was forced to act to protect Voice of America and the wider community of press freedom.
