The “real -time” host Bill Maher slammed what he called the “exclusionary attitude” of the left when it came to the Kennedy center before taking President Trump for the iconic land of DC art.
During his “Overtime” segment on Youtube, Maher read a question posed by a viewer asking the panel’s reaction to the “Hamilton” manufacturer Jeffrey Seller and Lin-Manuel Miranda to cancel the 2026 plans in response to the Kennedy Board overload last month.
While liberal critics, including retailers and Miranda, accused Trump of politicizing Kennedy Center, Maher suggested he had already been politicized.
“I will say this in defense of the other party in this because I saw the honors of the Kennedy center this year. It was in December. Always is always in December. I always watch it. And this year they honored Francis Ford Coppola and Grateful Dead,” Maher said on Friday.
“Maybe I’m wrong, because I didn’t do an exhaustive study, but I was … watching the show, I didn’t see a person in the audience or a person on stage you would think he voted for Donald Trump. This is the last month of Biden administration, and just lost the election, I just thought, ‘Fue Ted Cruz,'” Maher continued.
He added, “If this is supposed to be America, and we are all together, and you just lose, invite some of the people who wouldn’t suspect they were there. I am sure Ted Cruz or someone like this Francis Ford Coppola, everyone likes ‘godfather’. the last. and that is what you get. “
“And now, you know, Kevin Sorbo will win the future honors of the Kennedy Center,” he said.
Fox News Digital arrived at Kennedy Center for comment, but did not immediately receive an answer.
“The View” co-perpetrator Alyssa Farah Griffin responded by saying the arts “undoubtedly left from the center” and suggesting the reaction to Trump’s Kennedy center actions was “overload” and that Beltway media fixing shows how journalists have become “so they are not affected with this country”.
“Just just a bad attitude,” Maher said.
His panelist, former Senator Jon Tester, D-MT., However, he was puzzled by Maher’s complaint.
“So what you are saying there is no Republican in the audience?” Asked the tester.
“I didn’t see anyone throughout the show I thought,” Oh, this is a person who voted for Trump, “” Maher replied.

“I just felt when they cut them in front of the audience, were just ordinary suspects and as well, well, you get it right. She will left, but simply – that’s what they do. What really bothers me for the left, that exclusionary attitude. And how – but you have lost you.”
“I have only been in person twice in 18 years, but the truth is, both times that I went there, once about three years ago, there were many Republicans in the audience during the Biden administration,” Tester said.
“Okay, maybe they just didn’t tell them,” Maher was sarcastically shot.
Hamilton manufacturers, who previously had a blow to the Kennedy center in 2018 during Trump’s first administration, told the New York Times that Trump’s recent actions crossed the line.
“The latest act by Trump means that it is not the Kennedy center as we knew,” Miranda and the seller to The Times told in a joint statement.
“The Kennedy Center was not created in this spirit, and we will not be part of it while it is the Trump Kennedy Center. We just won’t be part of it.”
Ric Grenell, Trump’s Special Mission, who Trump also fired to be the temporary executive director of Kennedy Center, intended Hamilton’s producers to withdraw their performances without having any conversations with him.
“The seller and @lin_manuel first went to the New York Times before coming to the Kennedy Center with their announcement that they may not be in the same room with the Republicans,” Grenell wrote on X.
“This is a stunt publicity that will be fiery.”
“The arts are for everyone – not just for the people they like and agrees with. The American people must know that @lin_manuel is intolerant of people who disagree with him politically. It is clear that he and sellers do not want Republicans to go to their performances,” Grenell added.
