MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace, who is facing strong control after the controversial comments she made about a new survivor of cancer presented at President Trump’s latest address in Congress, has seen a significant decrease in visibility since November 5 elections, according to Nielsen figure.
Wallace, former communication official for George W. Bush, who gained attention to her critical coverage of Trump throughout his presidency, saw her ratings suffering after the Democrats lost power.
From the beginning of 2024 to the election day, its appearance was on average 1.6 million viewers, but after Trump’s victory, it decreased by 35% – dropping to just over one million viewers for the remainder of the year, Nielsen figures show.
The decline was also evident in the main demographics of adult advertising ages 25-54, where it saw a decline from 144,000 viewers before elections to 93,000 after.
Since January 1, the trend has continued, with “Deadline: White House” on average 1.1 million viewers – marking a 25% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
Competitive programs at the Fox News, which air on the same time games from 4 in the afternoon to 6 pm, have significantly exceeded Wallace’s viewing, attracting an average audience of 3.6 million. Fox News shares common ownership by posting.
Even in the main demographic 25-54, Wallace is left behind, with 108,000 viewers-following cable offers such as “Dinner, Drive-ins & Dive” on the food network and “Sistas Tyler Perry’s Sistas”.
Despite the decline in ratings, there was some good news for MSNBC owned by Comcast.
Last month, MSNBC was ranked as Network no. 2 Cable news in total viewers during the first time and total day. The network on average 1,126 million viewers in Primetime and 638,000 in the total viewing of the day, with 111,000 in demonstration of premiums and 66,000 in the demonstration of the total day.
Compared to January, the main audience of MSNBC time expanded by 53%, while its main demo increased by 76%.
The total network of the network day also saw a 26% increase in viewers and an increase of 47% of the demonstration.
However, the numbers of a year further showed a decline, with the first time of viewers down 16% and the demonstration below 9%. Total day’s view fell 25% by 2024, with a 21% decrease in demonstration.
The latest controversy broke out after Trump honored 13-year-old DJ Daniel, a brain cancer survivor who aspires to be a police officer.
During his speech, Trump made Daniel a secret service agent, saying: “Tonight, DJ, we will make you the greatest honor for everyone.
After the address, Wallace’s analysis at MSNBC took a sudden turn, drawing a link between the young boy and the events of January 6, 2021.
“I let myself feel joy for DJ, and I hope he is alive for another, you know, 95 years, and I hope he lives the life he wants to live.
“I hope he has a long life as a law enforcement officer,” Wallace continued.
“But I hope he should never defend the United States Capitol against Donald Trump’s supporters, and if he does, I hope he is not one of the six who loses his life to suicide, and I hope he is not the one who has to commit the acts of the glamorous plot and then lived to see Donald Trump those people.”
Wallace’s MSNBC colleague, Prime Minister Rachel Madovw’s host, also raised his eyebrows with her comment.
Madovw made an unusual accusation against Trump, calling him “disgusting” to highlight DJ’s bold struggle against a life -threatening illness that doctors predicted would claim his life within months.
“For the record – and this is repulsive – the president made a spectacle praising a young man who has so far survived pediatric cancer – as if the president had to do with this,” the Liberal Hospital Fumoi.
Comments from Maddow and Wallace sparked immediate reactions, with criticism that was poured out by media and social media users alike.
The White House also weighed, with Trump himself condemning remarks.
“Honestly, what Nicolle Wallace said – I’ve never been a fan of it, and she is not very talented, but I will tell you what she said the next day is shameful. She should be forced to resign,” Trump said on Thursday.
White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt echoed the feeling during the Wednesday press conference, further promoting the controversy.
Leavitt described Wallace’s remarks as “disgusting”, accusing him of inappropriate involvement of a young man fighting brain cancer in a political attack on the events of January 6, 2021.
As for Maddaw, Leavitt echoed Trump’s feeling that her comments were “embarrassing”, suggesting that both hosts should resign for their statements to DJ Daniel.
