Prepare to be air!
Delta Air Lines revealed plans to revolutionize air travel with a new fighter-style passenger plane aimed at lowering emissions and fuel costs-and can fly as early as 2027.
Airliner is partnership with Jetzero, a California -based startup, to bring to life the innovative and durable winged plane as part of the pushing of the global carrier to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, Delta Air Lines announced Wednesday.
The light air of the air-which differs from the traditional shape of the tube and the wing-is expected to have more than 250 passengers and will provide a much quieter journey with motors mounted on the plane roof.
“Working with Jetzero to realize a completely new air framework for clients and employees is bold and important work to advance air industry fuel saving initiatives and innovation goals,” said Amelia Deluca, leading Delta stability officer in a statement.
“While Delta is focused on doing what we can today to address our carbon footprint, it is critical that we also work with a variety of partners to advance revolutionary technologies, such as Jetzero’s mixed body aircraft, to solve for a significant portion of future aviation emissions.”
The partnership comes after starting a grant from the US Air Force in 2023 to help facilitate the construction of a full -scale demonstrator for her girls’ flight by 2027, the airline said.
Delta will provide operational expertise to help the technology applicable in trade and design the interior cabin of the aircraft, which will include improved space of upper bins, accessible places and baths, and fewer lines.

Airline officials said its goal is for the glossy aircraft to run with stable aviation fuel.
Jetzero’s associate and CEO Tom O’Leary said his company is working to “change the world” by introducing a first -type plane that will reduce air energy costs and accompanying emissions.
“The ability to make such important profits of efficiency in the near future significantly affects industry engagement to reach Neto-Zero emissions by 2050 and will serve as the foundation on which other technologies and efficiency can be realized,” he said.
“Delta was one of the first carriers that partner with us, supporting us after scenes since 2023, and we look forward to their continued support of our program through their deep knowledge and expertise.”
