Karine Jean-Pierre compares Democrats demanding that Biden start the 2024 election ticket in a ‘quiet team’

Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre spoke how “shocking” it was to see Democratic Party leaders criticizing then President Joe Biden to the point where he withdrew from the race.

One month in President Donald Trump’s second term in office, the Democratic Party is still returning from the 2024th race.

One of the most controversial aspects of the race was how the leaders and influential party figures demanded that Biden give up the party’s appointment after his catastrophic debate performance last June.

At an event at the Harvard University Institute of Politics, Jean-Pierre was asked to share an anecdote about the challenges he faced in three weeks after that debate until Biden left, and if he should have run at all.

“He was the President of the United States at the time, he was the leader of the Democratic Party. It was indeed his decision to make what he wanted to do, and I supported him 100%. Either way, I would support him 100%,” she replied. “Because he was right, as the leader of the Democratic Party coming out of a very successful medium term. It was supposed to have a red wave, there was no red wave.”

The big challenge of that three-week period, she said, came from other parts of the Democratic Party itself.

“I … look, personally. I think what was the hardest thing to see in three weeks was that there was a break for me [in] What was happening with the leadership in the Democratic Party and how it really was, as my former colleague, communication director Ben Labolt said, was a firing squad. “

“I had never seen something like that before. I had never seen a party do it in the way they did, and it was harmful and sad when I saw what was happening,” Jean-Pierre said. “A firing squad about a person I believe was a true patriot, a person I believe he did everything he could for this country. A person I believe, as I mentioned before, has done more in a mandate than most presidents in two terms, historical things and I was shocked by what I was seeing.”

When asked by another panel member, Jean-Pierre confirmed that she was referring to Democratic leaders who came out to publicly criticize Biden, citing how “shocking” the turn of events at the time.

“Instead of gathering to be truly unified and try to understand how we save our democracy, how we can fight again, this is what I see,” she said. “This is what we decided to do for three weeks, and, you know, it was really, really unfortunate, and I think it hurt us more than I think people understood it.”
