Trump-Bashing’s left, Keith Olbermann, collided with his former MSNBC employee for what he described as a “racist cleansing” after the cancellation of Joy Reid’s premium show.
In a series of posts on X, Olbermann condemned Reid’s removal along with shows organized by Jonathan Capehert, Alex Wagner, Katie Phang and Ayman Moyeldin.
Olbermann, who hosted a show on the left -wing network from 2003 to 2011, compared cancellations with the entertainment of the cost cut by Doge Musk Musk.
“Now 5 different anchors of colors fired/canceled. A brutally racist msnbc cleaning makes you think it is made by Musk. Joy Reid, Wagner; now Katie Phang, Jonathan Capehert, Ayman Moyeldin,” Olbermann wrote in the account his X.
Reid, who is black, shed tears after broadcasting her latest show on Msnbc on Monday.
Wagner, whose mother is boyfriend, will no longer wait 9pm from Tuesday to Friday. She will remain on the network as a political analyst.
Phang, who is of Asian origin, will no longer wait for her show on the weekend. Instead it will be a contributor. Capehert, who is black, and Mohyeld of Egyptian origin will be moved to new slots, according to the network.
Olbermann also called on MSNBC Rachel Maddow hosts, Chris Hayes and Lawrence O’Donnell to take a stand, warning them, “or you are all Joe Scarborough -ikoqiri Morning Joe who met Trump in Mar-a-lago after his victory over Kamala Harris.
“Dear [Rachel Maddow]If you go to the air tonight – or at least continue without condemning the open racism of people who give you $ 25 million a year – you are a collaborator. The same for you [Lawrence O’Donnell] AND [Chris Hayes]”He wrote.
Olbermann, who left the network in bad terms more than a decade ago, continued his anti-msnbc diatribe, writing: “They didn’t even try to hide racism by hunting an unnecessary white anchor like [Katy] Tour or [Stephanie] Ruhle as a cover. “
Olbermann and Tour were in a relationship for about three years in the late 2000s when Tur was starting her career in journalism.
The post has requested comment from MSNBC.
Madow addressed Reid Cancellation in the Air, openly criticizing the latest MSNBC programming decisions.
“Also unclear to see that in a network where we have two – count them – two non -white hosts in priming, both of our non -white hosts in Primetime are losing their shows, such as Katie Phang on the weekends. And This feels worse than bad, no matter who replaces them.
O’Donnell also expressed confusion about the decision to cancel the Reid show, stating that it had “absolutely no meaning”.
Maddow is an Olbermann’s former Protesis. Both have had a complex relationship that has evolved over time.
Olbermann, who gained a nationwide fame as a co-spoken of ESPN’s “SportsCenter” in the 1990s, played a key role in raising Maddow in MSNBC.
When he was waiting for “Countdown with Keith Olbermann”, he often presented Maddow as a guest, recognizing her analytical skills and sharp political commentary.
He defended her to take her show, which eventually led to the “Rachel Maddaw Show” premiere in 2008.
But their relationship was tense after Olbermann’s sudden departure from MSNBC in 2011.
While Madov expressed his appreciation for his mentoring, she did not openly challenge the network over his exit, which some interpreted as a sign of distancing themselves from controversy.
Olbermann later expressed disappointment with Maddow, suggesting that she was not sufficiently supportive during his departure.
In the following years, he has been critical of MSNBC and its leadership, occasionally taking shots at Maddow in the process.
Olbermann has also been vocal in his criticism of Scarborough, especially for his visit to Mar-a-Lago and interactions with President Donald Trump after the 2024 elections.
Scarborough and Brzezinski were widely criticized for meeting Trump, whom they called “fascist” in the months before the election.
