Rahm Emanuel-a former mayor of Agoikago and a White House official under presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden-is the latest left expert to join CNN.
Emanuel, who recently served as an ambassador to Japan during the Biden administration, is the new senior commentator for political and global issues of network issues, CNN said on Thursday.
“Emanuel will bring his extensive knowledge of American politics and international issues in CNN air programming,” CNN said in a press release.
He was the Mayor of Agoikagos from 2011 to 2019, after serving as Chief of the White House Staff for Obama.
The controversial Democrat and brother to try to try General Director Ari Emanuel, is the latest left expert to be added to the CNN panel as the network follows comprehensive changes at the beginning of the Trump administration.
He emerged as one of the most controversial candidates of the Biden Ambassador while left -wing Democrats decreed his record on police brutality.
In 2014, Emanuel-then the mayor of Agoikagos-did not agree to release the impatient footage of a city police officer by death shot dead 17-year-old Laquan McDonald. In the midst of the reaction, the mayor threw his bid for re -election.
Sense. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mas.), Ed Markey (D-Mas.) And Jeff Merkley (d-o.) Opposed his ambassador’s nomination.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NN) also spoke against the choice of “deeply embarrassing”.
In January, Emanuel withdrew from the embassy just a week before President Trump took office.
He has already appeared at CNN’s performances as a guest, speaking to Cristian Amanpour in December and in the “State of the Union” with Dana Bash.
Emanuel has also written several columns of thought for The Washington Post, claiming that Trump is “buying the Nobel Prize” and is arguing how the Democratic Party can jump again after losing the confidence of voters.
Earlier this year, CNN Mark Thompson’s chief revealed widespread network changes, including 200 dismissals in television operations such as company enterprise in a first digital strategy.
The network also announced schedule changes, such as the movement of veteran’s Wolf Blitzer anchor to express Trump critic Jim Acosta’s morning slot. Acosta later announced that she was leaving the network.
The network also moved Jake Tapper’s “direction” at 5am, Audie Cornish added to “CNN this morning” at 6am and named Rahel Solomon host of the show 5 in the morning “5 things”.
