American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) attorney Chase Strangio appeared to use a new term for a female adult on Tuesday.
The trans rights activist – who is also a transgender man – appeared on the left-wing digital news show Democracy Now! to criticize President Donald Trump’s executive order on sex and gender.
Strangio complained to host Amy Goodman that Trump is “targeting trans people by focusing on diminishing this notion of a fixed gender binary at conception.”
While making the case, Strangio referred to biological women as “non-transgender women.”
Trump’s executive order, titled “Protecting Women from Extremism of Gender Ideology and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government,” clarifies that it is U.S. policy to recognize two genders, male and female, and that males and females are biologically different, along with addressing. how agencies should handle these directives.
Part of the EO directs the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to draft a policy protecting women who “seek single-sex rape shelters” and other intimate spaces, which Strangio opposed.
Strangio claimed that this would, “essentially, exclude trans people from various forms of the housing system, under the pretext that a trans person is an inherent threat to non-transgender women.”

After refusing to refer to biological women as “women,” Strangio added that this part of the order “simply increases the danger that transgender people face in society if we are seen as a threat to others simply by existing.”
A clip of Strangio calling the women “non-transgender women” caught the attention of some on X.
Prominent conservative account End Wokeness shared the clip with the caption, “ACLU attorney Chase Strangio is panicked that Trump banned men from ‘non-trans women’ (women) locker rooms.
Conservative commentator Paul Szypula blasted Strangio in a lengthy post, saying, “ACLU attorney Chase Strangio, a woman pretending to be a man, is crazy that she will be arrested if she uses a men’s bathroom in a federal building. She vents her anger by calling biological women “non-transgender women”.
He continued, “Chase can complain all he wants. This does not change the fact that she has XX chromosomes and is a woman. So either she stays outside the men’s bathroom, or she goes to a women’s prison.”
Trending Politics co-owner Collin Rugg wrote: “NEW: ACLU transgender attorney Chase Strangio refers to biological women as ‘non-transgender women’ while losing it to Trump’s new executive orders. This voice catches my eye every time.”
“Life hack: You can save some time by simply referring to them as ‘women’.” added Rugg.
“No, we are women. Only women, there is no and/or situation here,” added Rep. Nancy Mace, RS.C., who has advocated for single-sex facilities in the Capitol.
Former NCAA swimmer and women’s rights activist Riley Gaines commented on Rugg’s post, saying, “‘Non-transgender women’ is crazy lol.”
