Caitlyn Jenner predicts ‘change’ in California as LA fires shine ‘bright light’ on state’s ‘weaknesses’

Longtime California resident and Fox News contributor Caitlyn Jenner predicts there will be a “change” in thinking across the state after how leadership handled the wildfires still affecting parts of Los Angeles County .

Jenner, who said she has lived in California since 1973, recalled the first time she saw the state’s “Welcome to California, The Golden State” sign on Highway 82.

“Boy, I’ve seen this state decline over the years. We are not gold, we are not silver, we are not bronze. We don’t even make the finals anymore,” Jenner told The Story, arguing that the state’s decline is due to the politicians who run it.

The former Republican candidate for the 2021 election argued that details emerging of how officials failed to prepare for the wildfires will shine a “bright light” on California’s “weaknesses.”

“Light is good because it is a disinfectant. I mean, we have so many issues here, mostly with politicians,” Jenner said, likening the politician’s responses to the problems to a game of “hit the mole.”

“You know that game when you play, when you have the mole and you have the board in front of you and the head comes up and you have a hammer and you hit it? And then another one comes here, and you hit it,” she described.

“That’s what they do. Once the problem occurs, then they try to do what they can to fix it. Instead of being on the offensive a year before the fires,” Jenner further explained her analogy.

Jenner criticized Gov. Gavin Newsom’s response to the fires, noting how she has had properties affected by several fires over the years and that they happen “all the time.”

“This is devastating. And they’re not on offense,” Jenner said, acknowledging the massive winds that contributed to the level of destruction from the flames.

Outside of the unusually windy conditions, California has faced a water infrastructure problem, which Jenner highlighted.

“Certainly in the ’60s, we had water running through California. The biggest project in history [for] water in California. Since then, we have been run by liberal Democrats and have fewer and fewer. And it’s just, it’s a shame because there’s so much you can do, and they just have their priorities in the wrong place,” she said.

California suffers from an aging water storage system that was unable to store all the water from last year’s record rainfall. Without reservoirs providing adequate storage, most of the rainwater had to be dumped into the ocean.

Jenner detailed how she believes California has and will continue to be more Republican after the mismanagement of the LA wildfires and the election victory of President-elect Donald Trump.

“What [Trump] did to this state, if you looked during the last election, the amount of blue that was in our state was half of the state. Now it’s about a third,” Jenner said, pointing out how most of California’s blue areas are in the major metropolitan areas of San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.

“I hope the people of California can really change their minds. And I think what’s going on [with] this fire will change their thinking. It’s things like that that have to happen,” Jenner said, explaining how California as a whole is controlled by Democrats.

“They control the money. They control the votes. They control the unions. And for me the whole state is like a big fraud”, she said.
