Charlamagne that God challenged Whoopi Goldberg over President Biden’s controversial apology to his scandal-scarred son Hunter, asking, “Why can’t you just say when the Democrats are wrong?” while appearing on “The View” on Wednesday.
The Breakfast Club host sparred with Goldberg as the two liberal figures sparred over the 82-year-old president’s decision to let Hunter go for any federal wrongdoing over the past decade after previously claiming he would not interfere in 54 – his year old. -old boy criminal problems.
Charlamagne called the criticism against Biden “valid” because “Democrats stand on this moral high ground all the time” and “act so righteously.”
“The reality is that he didn’t have to say anything about whether or not his son wanted to be pardoned … but since they were calling (President-elect Donald) Trump a threat to democracy and saying that no one is above that. the law, but they were talking about it, that’s what they were running,” he added.
Goldberg was quick to push that Americans didn’t know Biden was lying when he insisted he wouldn’t help Hunter, who has two federal gun convictions and tax evasion convictions hanging over his head.
Biden claimed in his statement on Sunday that he decided to face the Thanksgiving break.
“We don’t know why he changed his mind,” Goldberg said, to a confused Charlamagne, “You really think he changed his mind over Thanksgiving weekend?”
Goldberg countered that Biden was sick of “watching everybody else go by” before changing his tune.
As the two continued to clash, Charlamagne argued that supporters of both major political parties lack objectivity — similar to rooting for a favorite sports team.
“When it comes to political parties, if you pick a side, if you say you’re a Democrat or you say you’re a Republican, refuse to be objective about anything,” he said.
“The Democrats are not a monolith,” Goldberg shouted, before Charlamagne asked, “Why can’t you say when the Democrats are wrong?”
“And why can’t Republicans say when Republicans are wrong,” he added.
While Goldberg claimed that she blames Democrats on the show, she continued to insist that Biden did nothing wrong.
“Well, that’s ridiculous,” he said of her defense of the outgoing 46th president.
The tense match ended on good terms, however, when Charlamagne rose from his seat to hug Goldberg after he told him to come over and give him a kiss.
“None of them have the moral high ground,” Charlamagne said of Dems and the GOP.
“That’s what I’m trying to get people to understand. When you’re a staunch Democrat or a staunch Republican, you refuse to be objective about the other side.”
