Vice President Kamala Harris refrained from saying what “big changes” her administration would bring compared to the Biden administration currently serving during an interview Tuesday night.
Harris sat down for a friendly interview with “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert, who pointed to polls showing voters want the 2024 election to be about change.
“You’re a member of the current administration, but under a Harris administration, what would be the main changes and what would stay the same?” Colbert asked.
“Of course, I’m not Joe Biden,” Harris replied.
“I noticed,” Colbert quipped.
“So that would be a change in perspective — but I also think it’s important to say 28 days left, I’m not Donald Trump,” Harris said, drawing cheers from the liberal audience.
“And so when we think about the importance of what this next generation of leadership looks like, if I were to be elected president, it’s about — frankly, I love the American people and I believe in our country. I like that it is our character and nature to be an ambitious people. You know, we have aspirations, we have dreams. We have an incredible work ethic. And I just believe that we can create and build on the success that we’ve had in a way that we continue to increase opportunity and in that way, increase the power of our nation,” Harris continued before touting her pitch to ” opportunity economy” and talking about her small business owner mother.
Earlier in the day at her media, Harris was similarly asked on “The View” if she would have done anything differently under the Biden presidency.
“There’s nothing that comes to mind,” Harris replied, adding “I’ve been a part of most of the decisions that have had an impact.”
Critics pounced on the Democratic nominee’s comments, insisting they would be immediately used in a Trump ad to link him to Biden, who was forced to drop out as a candidate by upset Democrats in July.
Biden dropped out of the race under pressure and Harris quickly replaced him.
